So happy you were born

Apparently I'm one of the million-something people who calls in sick the day after the Super Bowl... but I'm still a sniffly mouth-breather after catching E's cold late last week; and I spent all weekend (thank goodness we had no plans this time) just sitting around. How annoying is it that with 23,547+ channels there is still nothing worth watching most of the time...?

I'll forgive E for getting me sick though, and even for being a Tom Brady-had-JustinBeiber-hair-apologist (he has very strong feelings on this which I didn't realize the full extent of until after the game last night), because today is his birthday and I am reminded how very much I love him and how incredibly blessed I am that he has been my best friend for so may years and that I can now call him my baby daddy.

We are so lucky and blessed to have found each other and found love at such an early age and I'll never take the for granted (I'm so glad I've never had to date because I would've ended up as a weird cat lady by now and I'm much more of a dog person). There is no other hand I'd rather hold as we face life's challenges and joys. From finishing school to paying back loans to contemplating going back to school... to jobs lost and gained... to car trouble, flooded kitchens, sick family members, smaller-than-preferred bank accounts... to cheering on our teams, exploring new places, celebrating family members and to cherishing graduations, anniversaries, weddings, new babies, and more... to children dreamed of, rejoiced over, worried about and prepared for... to continuing to dream of and plan for our future. We've laughed more than we've cried, had more sunshine than rain, and he makes me smile every day.

I'm so impressed with how he has grown into such a thoughtful and responsible provider for our little family and I've always cherished the way he has taken care of those he loves... and is so friendly and open to and positive with anyone he encounters. He is a man of integrity, values, incredible work ethic and selflessness.

This is going to be a year full of changes and challenges for us and I feel so blessed to and grateful that we'll be together through every moment of it.

Happy Birthday, babe. May this be a year full of love, laughter and new adventures. May you know how much you are cherished and appreciated and admired and loved. May you continue to grow into everything God intends for you to be. May you have a Happy Birthday this year and every year to come.

With more love than you'll ever know,

and Fetus

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Team Alvarez Announces Roster Expansion

Addition of rookie will enhance 2015 lineup

La Mesa, Calif.--January 9, 2015--Team Alvarez announced today that it has agreed to terms with rookie Fetus Alvarez. The youngster, who has been described as “wiggly and uncooperative” by advance scouts, is expected to make their debut in mid-May 2015.

This is the first such rookie signing for Team Alvarez, prompting the management to make corresponding front office moves: Enrique has been named General Manager, remaining the head of the Technology Department while also assuming primary responsibilities for Transportation and Logistics; and Leila will go in a new direction as VP of Player Development, a role that will encompass Nutrition and Scheduling.

VP of Player Development, Leila Alvarez, and General Manager, Enrique Alvarez,
eagerly await Fetus Alvarez' primetime debut following an extended rookie camp.

Fetus is already proving to be quite the dynamic addition to the team, as early scouting reports show a strong indication of Down Syndrome, which will present some unique challenges but so far has been just another quality to admire about this scrappy player. Team physicians are keeping an eye on physical development and reportedly are encouraged by the team’s commitment to preparation, education and early interventions.

“Above all else, we are thrilled to finally welcome Fetus to the Team Alvarez family, and we eagerly await their debut in the spring,” stated Leila, who retains her duties as Chief Marketing Officer. “While Fetus’ early developmental growth has caused some moments of concern, we have high expectations for their progress and are fully invested in making available every resource and service to ensure their continued success. The intangibles that Fetus has already brought to Team Alvarez are invaluable; Fetus demonstrates tenacity, a winning attitude and at the same time is incredibly easy-going--already a fan favorite.”

Indeed, Fetus has already received a warm welcome from the extended Team Alvarez organization; particularly from the Associate Directors of Maternal Spoiling.

With the addition of Fetus to Team Alvarez, Enrique and Leila expect a solid return on love, fulfillment and happiness, though it will come at the short-term expense of sleep. Most recently, Fetus has developed a routine of nighttime conditioning by adding kickboxing to their regimen. “Despite anticipating the natural adjustment process, we’re building this team for the long-term,” said Enrique as he evaluated equipment upgrades. “Fetus’ arrival will mark the beginning of a new era for Team Alvarez and we are grateful to have the leadership and support of veterans and the community as we prepare for the exciting years ahead.”

About Team Alvarez
Officially incorporated in December 2008, Team Alvarez traces its roots to Marian Catholic High School in October 1999. While Enrique and Leila each pursued educational and career goals they also remained dedicated to each other and to their mutual lifetime aspirations. After merging they settled into semi-domesticated bliss, making their headquarters in La Mesa, and have lovingly dreamt of family expansion.

Not Dead

It's been a long long long time since I wrote anything...

A new job, volunteer stuff, excessive crafting, the holidays, life in general got in the way.

I didn't die (thankfully... always a good thing, right?).

So I'm going to work on getting back to posting on a more regular basis. I have some belated projects to share and I would like to get back into the habit of reflecting on #FiveGoodThings each week.

But first, an announcement. Coming soon, promise. :)

Until then,
