Happy Independence Day!
Here's to remaining true to the best of our founding principles and to having the wisdom and courage to evolve, change and grow when it's necessary. Here's to remembering that...
... to be free is not merely to cast off one's chains, but to live in a way that
respects and enhances the freedom of others. ~ Nelson Mandela
and may we be ever mindful...
May we think of freedom, not as the right to do as we please,
but as the opportunity to do what is right. ~ Peter Marshall
Thank you to those who have served our country... whether it was overseas or at home in a uniform, in a classroom, by delivering our mail or cleaning our streets or feeding the hungry, raising children to be responsbile and productive citizens, increasing our nation's knowledge and production capacities... whatever it is you do, you have the opportunity and the responsbility to help make our nation a force for good in the world.
And because I don't want to lecture too much, enjoy your BBQs, pool parties, beach days, fireworks and Pinterest-inspired red, white & blue desserts. I leave you with this...
